Faith and Community-Based After School Programs
Building lasting bonds and stronger communities through education
ASCL can work with your Church or Community to build After School Programs that will strengthen academic capabilities of your students.
Under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), Faith- and Community-Based Organizations have a unique opportunity to serve already under served students in your community. Through supplemental services mandated as part of NCLB, ASCL would seek to partner with your organization to become an approved supplemental service provider in your state. In order to become a supplemental service provider, you must have proven scientific methods to help students with reading and math. ASCL can provide the curriculum and program management required under NCLB.
ASCL also has the expertise to help you establish other programs such as:
The Upward Bound Math and Science Program (UBMS)
The UBMS program serves 9th through 12th graders currently enrolled in their local schools. Students participate in academic classes, cultural enrichment activities, and tutorials that encourage them to consider careers in math and science. The primary focus is learning math and science through hands-on experiences. There is also a six-week summer program for this program. Federally funded.
